Tell your legislators: Pass small donor matching NOW
Our elected officials in Albany missed a big opportunity to fully enact a small donor matching program in this year’s state budget. The Governor, the Senate, and the Assembly all included small donor matching in their budget priorities, yet instead of passing a strong program, they left critical details up to a commission.
We got this far because of a surge of grassroots activism across the state that made campaign finance reform a top budget issue, and we’re not letting our leaders off the hook. If the commission doesn’t live up to its mission, our elected leaders are responsible for ensuring we end this year with a strong 6-to-1 small donor matching system that gives everyday New Yorkers a voice to push back against big donors.
